Why the plant meeting still needs paper

Tamar Kapanadze

Fingers need a place to land. A projector does not remember who circled the hole in week two.

I have sat in rooms where a chart lived only on a wall for twenty minutes. When the wall went dark, three people remembered three different peaks. Paper is slower, and that is the point. In our Kutaisi briefing we put copies down. People write on them. The hole in week two remains a hole on six sheets, not a gesture in the air.

Slides also tempt a kind of polish we do not offer: animation, a title that argues, a colour that flatters a thin sample. A printed range with the dates in full is harder to dress. If a shift lead disagrees, they can underline the dated mark and we can look at the log together.

This is still visualization. It is visualization that can be left in a canteen, mailed to a supplier, or folded into a coat. The analysis is the log and the sentence of the claim. The drawing is how those two meet a room that will not read a ledger for pleasure.

If your plant forbids paper leaving, we still print for the sitting and destroy our copies in front of you, or we leave them in your cupboard. What we will not do is brief from a memory of a screen.

Printed in spirit as a working document. Module Layercore Analytics, Kutaisi. Observation notes remain the client’s once the briefing is closed.
